About Us
Since 1997
Witkruis Safaris is a company started by a few keen conservationists, who believed in the sustainable utilization of nature in a responsible way to ensure its long-term survival.
Because of years of overexploitation of game in the early 17th century, the wildlife in the Western Cape’s game numbers deteriorated to deficient levels. In 1997 a dream was born to start a game farm in the Western Cape to help conserve Fauna and Flora and reintroduce different species that roamed freely in the area in previous centuries.
Establishing the perfect area and getting the right partners on board who share the dream took time, but in 2013, the first farm was bought, and the dream became a reality.
Centrally located
Witkruis Safaris is proud to announce!
Hopefield, the oldest town on the West Coast, is situated on the R27 between Malmesbury and Vredenburg and serves as our base. Our unique game farm is in a Malaria-free Zone. Centrally located, just over an hour’s drive from Cape Town, we offer flexible day hunts that can be extended over a longer period, allowing you to utilize our facilities at your own pace.
The farm is on the west coast, 100 km from Cape Town International Airport. It covers over 4000 acres of diverse landscape, ranging from forest to dunes, Cape Fynbos, and open fields. The game is plentiful, and the farm combines breeding, reservation, hunting, and tourism.

The farms hosts 26 species
The farms have 26 species, including Eland, Brindle-tailed Gnu, Zebra, Kudu, Orex, Springbuck, Fellow Deere, Impala, Steenbok, Duiker, Bontebok, Water Buffalo, Jacob Sheep, Waterbuck, Ostrich, Caracal, Jackal, Badgers, and many nocturnal animals.
It also hosts various exotic species, such as Giraffe, Golden Wildebeest , Golden Gemsbok, Water Buffalo, Sable, Copper/White, Black Springbuck, Scimitar Orex, and European wild boar.
Due to our sustainable and environmentally friendly farming practices, numerous birds of prey, such as Fish Eagles, Owls, different Hawk species, and a diverse variety of birdlife, can be viewed on the riverfront.
The beautiful Langebaan Lagoon and Saldanha Bay Port are only a 20-minute ride from the farm. To the south is Darling, known for its lovely wine farms and world-class Sauvignon Blanc. You can also explore Paternoster and Velddrif with their unique West Coast hospitality.
Our luxurious, spacious, farm-style lodge can comfortably accommodate 30 people and is ideal for corporate conferences, family, and group breaks. A wood-fired Kol-Kol heated splash pool and bonfire braai area overlooking a magnificent sunset will contribute to a memorable stay. We are proud of our low carbon footprint made possible by a solar panel electricity system and gas geysers.
To conclude: we specialize in bird viewing, game drives, and sustainable corporate and trophy hunting. We also have a qualified professional hunter on board with 30 years of experience.

Where to Hunt and What to Expect
Steenbok, Duiker, Springbok (Common, Black, White), Impala, Fellow Deer, Kudu, Oryx, Burchills Zebra, and Eland. Wing shooting includes Guinea fowl, Francolin, Duck, and Geese. If you want to fish, we will gladly organise a charter, weather permitting. We promote fair chase hunting and have concessions on other farms with numerous species on offer.
We aim to give back a small piece of the beautiful experiences we have been privileged to share and enjoy with fellow hunters, family, and friends.
Accommodation and Food
Our luxurious, spacious, farm-style lodge has a well-equipped kitchen and an entertainment area where you can enjoy a game of pool or table tennis or just sit back and relax in front of a fireplace. At the Lapa, hunting stories are exchanged in the wood-fired Kol-Kol heated splash pool or beside a bonfire overlooking the African sunset.
Our Lodge offers four ensuite rooms that can accommodate 17 guests. Most rooms have four beds if you don’t mind your friends snoring. Our dorm is furnished with 7 bunkbeds, which allows 14 hunters to enjoy a good night’s rest. The ablution facilities have 2 toilets and two showers. Choosing between a self-catering unit, bed-brunch, dinner, or only bed and brunch adds to your convenience.
For the more adventures
Although we are not Michelin-star chefs, we can cook a mean piece of meat. Food is prepared on a fire: aged steaks, game meat, leg of lamb, snoek on the coals, “potjie kos”, toasties with melted cheese, chutney, and red onions. Let us know what you would like for supper, and we’ll cook it for you. The popular choice is sheep or wild boar on the spit.
Where vegan and vegetarian dishes are concerned our choices are limited.
